On a night when BLC honoured the 2023 Women’s Major Series Lacrosse champion Whitby Rush, they hosted the Brampton Excelsiors and ended up in the win column by a final of 13-3. They kept their guests off the scoreboard in the middle frame to improve to 4-1 and drop Brampton to 1-3.

Period scores were 4-2 for BLC after one, 4-0 BLC after two and 5-1 in the third for the 13-3 final.

Head coach Joel Johnson said, “I wasn’t happy with the start, we came out a little stagnant and gave them a few too many chances.”

He added, “with solid goaltending and a strong defense we were able to hold them to just the two goals in the first.”

Johnson said, “I knew we could be more consistent and play smarter and that’s what we did for the rest of the game” to take the two points.

Turning the page to tomorrow night in Peterborough, he said “we’re excited to play them, it will be a good test and a good measuring stick to where we are as we approach the mid-way point of the season.”

Riley Hutchcraft got the nod in the pipes for BLC and played a solid game, facing 37 Brampton shots and surrendering just three goals. BLC fired 49 shots on Will Johnston in the Excelsiors net.
