The Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) league 2026 entry draft is scheduled for Saturday January 24, 2026 (new date) at 11:00 a.m. at BarDown GastroPub at Iroquois Park Sports Centre. Prior to the draft, all seven teams in MSL are permitted to protect up to four graduating juniors from their centres. Brooklin Lacrosse Club (BLC) General Manager, Gavin Prout protected four members of the Whitby Warriors Junior A squad; Lucas Littlejohn, Owen Tapper, Jack Oldman and Ben Kromer.
“Although these were our four protected graduating Juniors there were so many great players coming out of Whitby I wish we could have protected them all! I think all the graduating Warriors will have a successful and long tenure in this league when given the chance,” said Prout.
“Jack Oldman is the best faceoff guy coming out of Jr A. We have had our eyes on him for many years now watching him perfect his craft and believe he can also dominate at the Sr A level with BLC. Not only can he win face offs however he can play defense and transition the ball extremely well,” added Prout.
Oldman is a Junior with the Ohio State University (OSU) men’s lacrosse program. He was named an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete in 2025 and also an Academic All-Big Ten that same year. In his Sophomore year he played in all 17 games and led the team with 123 ground balls and finished .499 (173-347) from the faceoff spot.
“I was fortunate to be able to play fairly regularly since I got here to OSU. I’ve been added to the team’s leadership council and I’m trying to be more of a leader out there. I was able to get some help from a couple of notable face-off guys in Justin Ignacio and Jake Withers and am able to reach out to them for advice,” said Oldman.
“I grew up playing minor lacrosse in Pickering, a smaller centre than Whitby. I was drafted by the Warriors and coached by Shawn Williams which taught me a great deal. That was an awesome program and we really came together as a team in 2022 when we won the Minto,” added Oldman.
“I think my strengths are face-offs and being a solid transition player. I can get up and down the floor and can contribute where I am needed,” said Oldman when asked what BLC fans can expect from him as a player.
The BLC management, coaching staff and executive are working hard during the off-season to ensure the formation of a successful team on and off the floor that will bring fans excitement for the 2026 season.
