And now the real fun begins.

Yes, it’s playoff time in the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL).

The Brooklin Lacrosse Club concluded its regular season campaign on Thursday against the host Peterborough Lakers.

The Lakers edged Brooklin 10-9 in overtime in the match held at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Peterborough’s Taite Cattoni scored the game-winner, at the 8:53 mark of the extra session.

With the loss, Brooklin finished off with a record of 8-8-0, good for third place in the standings of the five-team MLS.

The Lakers ended up in second spot, with a 12-4-0 record.

But regular season records can now be tossed aside as the post-season has arrived.

Brooklin will square off the Lakers in a best-of-seven MSL semi-final series, which begins next Thursday (Aug. 3) in Peterborough.

Brooklin will then host Game 2 on Aug. 4. That match, which will be held at the Iroquois Park Sports Complex in Whitby, has an opening faceoff set for 8 p.m.

Kyle Waters was one of the offensive stars for Brooklin in Thursday’s game as he scored three goals. Defender Mike Byrne also chipped in offensively as he scored twice.

Also scoring for Brooklin were Jack Boyden, Luke Pilcher, Brady Kearnan and Liam Osborne.

Pilcher also had three assists to end up with a four-point night.

Tanner Cook also had a four-point outing. All of his points were assists.
