Brooklin Lacrosse Club Thrilled to Announce Gavin Prout as General Manager
By Mark Stehlin
Lacrosse fans in Durham Region are familiar with the name Gavin Prout. Prout is a successful alumnus of the Whitby Warriors, Brooklin Redmen and Brooklin Lacrosse Club (BLC), with spells as player and more recently as coach. He now adds the title of BLC General Manager to his resume. Prout is a member of the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame and, in 2023, earned the honour of being inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
When asked about his appointment, Prout said “I am extremely excited about this new opportunity and challenge. Brad left the team in very good standing and set us up for success now and in the future. I have a fantastic group surrounding me to assist and lean upon for advice when I need it." He added “I know I have a wealth of both lacrosse and business sense that I can bring to the Brooklin Lacrosse Club and look forward to bringing back the winning tradition. Of course, there will be a learning curve with any new position, but I am up for the challenge.”
Club President, Dean Link said “we are incredibly pleased to have Gavin step up and take on the role of GM for the BLC and Merchants. Gavin has a long history as a player, coach and businessman of hard work, tenacity, high expectations and success. I have a great deal of respect for Gavin, and a great deal of faith in his leadership and abilities. I look forward to working with Gavin as he puts his stamp on the BLC and Merchants”.
Link added “I'm also happy to have Geoff Kent and Will Petschenig join us as Assistant General Managers. Geoff spent several years working with the Whitby Minor Lacrosse Association. He also has a son who is well into his Junior and NCAA lacrosse career. Will is well known as a talented lacrosse and hockey player, a Junior lacrosse coach and General Manager of the 2024 Arena Lacrosse League Champion - Whitby Steelhawks. The combined experience, skillsets and common goals of Gavin, Geoff and Will are all positives for our clubs, and I have full confidence these three are up to the task. “
