Brooklin Lacrosse Club Unveils New Uniforms

By Sam Laskaris

A couple of weeks after revealing a pair of new logos, the Brooklin Lacrosse Club has unveiled what its new threads will look like. The squad’s new jerseys and shorts, drastically different for home and away contests, are being produced by Uncommon Fit, an athletic lifestyle company the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) team is partnering up with for the first time.

“We’re ecstatic to work with Jamie and Uncommon Fit in 2019 and going forward,” said Brooklin’s general manager Brad MacArthur. The partnership will include Uncommon Fit leveraging the Brooklin Lacrosse Club’s digital assets including the team mobile app, social media platforms, and other in-arena activations.

Uncommon Fit Operations Manager Jamie Plunkett is also rather pleased his company is now working alongside the history-rich Brooklin franchise. “We are very excited to be teaming up the Brooklin Lacrosse Club as they turn a new page in their club history. With this being a fresh start for the BLC we think the fans and players are going to love the look/design of their new uniforms.”

The club’s away jersey will be predominantly white with the word Brooklin adorning the front of the chest and a player’s number below, just off to the right. And the shorts Brooklin players will wear will be primarily black. Meanwhile, both the Brooklin jerseys and shorts for home matches will be primarily red. “There’s some pop to them,” MacArthur said. “They’re a little bit different than what we’ve had in the past but they maintain our traditional colours, and when people take the time to look at our logo, there's some items of interest that take note of our past.”

MacArthur said a number of various styles, for both the home and away jerseys, were tossed around before settling on the chosen designs. “We’ve got distinct flavours of our branding but two different looks,” he said. “We can also interchange the shorts for a different look on back to back nights if needed.”

Prior to today’s public unveiling of the Brooklin uniforms, MacArthur said he had shown designs to various members of the club’s coaching staff and executive board. “Everybody I have shown it to so far has liked it,” he said. “The interest in them has been very positive.”

MacArthur is also hoping the club’s supporters will be enthralled with the new jersey designs. In fact, fans will have an opportunity to purchase their own customized Brooklin jersey. Details on these jersey sales will be available in the near future.

Brooklin commences its 2019 regular season this coming Sunday with a road contest against the Cobourg Kodiaks. That match, which will be held at the Cobourg Community Centre, has a 6 p.m. faceoff. Brooklin’s home opener is June 5, also against the Kodiaks. That contest, at Whitby’s Iroquois Park Sports Centre, begins at 8 p.m.
