BROOKLIN SETTLES FOR SINGLE POINT VIA OVERTIME TIE WITH HOST CHIEFS

By Sam Laskaris

For the second time in six nights, the Brooklin Lacrosse Club found itself playing a bit of overtime against the Six Nations Chiefs.

The visiting Chiefs had eked out an 11-10 OT triumph in a Major Series Lacrosse contest staged last Wednesday in Whitby.

Brooklin and Six Nations also needed an extra session on Tuesday as the two rivals were deadlocked at 10-10 following 60 minutes of regulation play in a contest held at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville.

But this time around neither club was able to score in the 10-minute OT so the result was declared a tie. Thus, both squads ended up earning a single point from the match.

Rookie Dyson Williams led the Brooklin offence by scoring a hat trick while Austin Murphy and Brady Kearnan netted a pair of goals each.

Kyle Waters, Bryce Tolmie and Peyton Cormier also scored for Brooklin.

Brooklin is now sporting a 1-3-1 record while Six Nations has a 3-1-1 mark.

Brooklin’s next contest is next Wednesday, July 6, when it hosts the Cobourg Kodiaks. Game time at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre is 8 p.m.
