It Was Worth the Drive to Owen Sound

The Brooklin Lacrosse Club (BLC) packed up their gear and travelled to the Bayshore Community Centre on the shore of Georgian Bay for a matinee against the Owen Sound North Stars. Less than the 24 hours prior, the Merchants Lacrosse Club came off a 15-14 victory over the Clearview Crushers in Ontario Series Lacrosse action and BLC head coach Joel Johnson utilized some of the same players from that game on Saturday afternoon.

The opening frame was an even affair at 1-1 with BLC perhaps dealing with a case of bus legs. The scoring increased in the middle frame with the visitors winning that one by 4-3 and a 5-4 lead going in to the third period. That period included a three-goal run by BLC, two by Austin Shanks who on Wednesday scored five times in BLC’s home opener vs. these same North Stars.  The third period was the difference in this contest as Brooklin took that one by 5-1 for the 10-5 final to register their second win of this early season. Brooklin scored two short-handed markers on the same infraction to seal the deal.
