Merchants extend winning streak to three with road victory versus Crushers

The Brooklin Merchants are on a bit of a roll.

The Merchants racked up their third consecutive victory on Saturday by downing the host Clearview Crushers 8-6 in an Ontario Series Lacrosse (OSL) contest held at the Stayner Arena. With the victory the Merchants improved their record to 7-4. The Crushers saw their mark fall to 1-9.

With Saturday’s triumph, the Merchants managed to sweep all four of their regular season matchups this year against Clearview. Brooklin collectively outscored the Crushers 48-37 in those matches.

The Merchants trailed 2-1 after the opening 20 minutes of action in Saturday’s outing. The two squads were then deadlocked at 4-4 heading into the final period. Darren Elliott, Eddie Renaud and Devin Pipher netted two goals each for the Merchants. Providing singles were Nolan Rutty and Koichi Nakamura. 

Lukas Coote picked up the W between the pipes for Brooklin.

The Merchants’ next game is this coming Friday, June 23. Brooklin will host the defending OSL champion Six Nations Rivermen. This contest, which will be staged at Luther Vipond Memorial Arena, has an opening faceoff scheduled for 8 p.m.
