Redmen Dominate the Kodiaks in Road Win

Coming off a 14-9 road loss in Peterborough on Thursday, the Brooklin Redmen ended the first week of the 2017 MSL regular season on a high Sunday night with a convincing 15-4 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks at the Cobourg Community Centre. 

The Redmen were lead by Reilly O'Connor (3,7) and Dan Lintner (4,4) who are now the top two in league scoring at this stage of the season.

The visitors jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Kodiaks could answer and the Redmen were up 9-1 after the first twenty minutes. Period scores of 3-1 in the second and 3-2 in the final frame guaranteed the win and a record of 2-1 on the season. Brooklin capitalized on the man advantage translating 6 of 11 chances on the night while Cobourg were up a man on three occasions but could not convert any of their opportunities.

Other scorers for the Redmen were Mitch Wilde. Kyle Whitlow with three and Colton Watkinson with four, Zach Higgins was solid in the Redmen net.

These two teams meet again on Wednesday June 7, 2107 at 8:00 p.m. at Iroquois Park in Whitby. 

Meanwhile,  Head Coach Derek Keenan had his Saskatchewan Rush in Georgia to meet the Swarm on Sunday night in game one of the best of three National Lacrosse League Champions Cup final. The Swarm defeated the Rush by a final of 18-14, game two is Saturday June 10 at 9:30 p.m. EST in Saskatoon. Game three, if needed, is set for Sunday June 18 in Georgia.
