Redmen Impressive in First Period; Unable to Hang on for Win

The Brooklin Redmen,  coming off a solid performance handing the Oakville Rock only their second loss of the season, faced the Peterborough Lakers at the Mem Centre on Landsdowne last night. The teams last played to an 8-8 draw a week ago each side was looking to improve on that result.

The Redmen stormed out of the gate en route to a 6-0 lead just after the halfway mark of the opening frame.  The Lakers scored twice late on starter Mike Poulin and teams went to break with the visitors up 6-2.

The rest of the game featured three separate multi goal runs for the homeside,  four in the middle frame and twice scoring three unanswered in the final frame which they won 7-3, taking the win by a final of 14-11 before a reported crowd of 3.054 onlookers.

Curtis Knight had a great follow up performance to his five goal, three assist night against Oakville with a hat-trick and two helpers last night. Shayne Jackson, in his second game back in 2018, was good for two goals and five assists. Singles for the Redmen went to Matt Spanger, Mark Matthews, Connor Kearnen, Nick Chaykowsky, Ryan Keenan and Chris Corbeil. Poulin took the loss with 52 shots on net.
