Redmen Win Final Road Game of Regular Season
With their ticket to the post season punched, the Brooklin Redmen played their penultimate regular season game and final one on the road in Cobourg posting an 11-8 win over the Kodiaks. The Redmen have struggled in opposition barns and with tonight's win sit at 2-6-0 away from IPSC and back to .500 overall with a record of 7-7-1. They play Oakville at home on Wednesday to round off the 16 game regular season schedule.
The Kodiaks jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Redmen rattled off three unanswered for the 3-2 lead after the opening 20 minutes. The middle frame saw the teams score a total of nine times with each side going on a three goal unanswered run, final score in that period was 5-4 for the Redmen and they took an 8-6 lead into the final period. After the home side scored early to close the gap, the Redmen went on another run that translated to the 11-8 win and all important two points. With one game remaining, the teams just ahead and behind (Oakville and Six Nations, respectively) each have four games left to settle the playoff seedings.
Reilly O'Connor with a hat-trick led the way for the Redmen, two to John Lafontaine and singles to Keenan Cook, Chris Corbeil, Ryan Keenan, Mitch McMichael, Shayne Jackson and Adrian Sorichetti rounded out the scoring.
Oakville Rock make a visit to IPSC on Wednesday, on the season the Redmen have won twice and lost a close 6-5 final the last time they appeared at the TRAC.
